Happy Holidays from all of us at Artisan’s Garden!

Artisan Gardens Holiday Wreath

With the holiday season right around the corner, why not take advantage of the lull at this time of year to brighten up the encroaching winter season with a holiday wreath. One of the first things I like to do to add charm to my home is a fresh, handmade wreath for my front door. All the fresh foliage, berries, bells and ribbons always create something unique and truly magical every year.

Too overwhelming to tackle a wreath on your own? Not sure where to start? Come to Artisan’s Garden! We are offering classes over 3 Saturday’s in our green house beginning Nov 30th & Dec 14 (Noon – 3pm) and Dec 7 (10am – 1pm).

Bring along your friends and enjoy building your own wreath—and sipping on our tasty hot apple cider. And the best part is you get to leave the mess with us! It’s always such a pleasure to see the many different styles and personalized touches our students can imagine and create. Feel free to bring your own embellishments to add your own personality and personal touch to the design.

Cost: $60 and includes everything you will need!

Here are some basic step by step instructions on what you do to create your own special wreath:

Step 1. Here are the basic supplies you need to get started: grape vine wreath, wire cutters, floral wire, your favourite seasonal greens, garden clippers.

Note: These basic supplies will be provided at our workshop. We have an abundance of greenery, ribbon—all you need to get started. Bring whatever embellishments you want to use to personalize your creation. Also available are some add-on embellishments at a low cost.

Step 2. Cut your greens into individual clusters, keeping in mind how you would like them to lay. Wrap the greens several times with wire until it feels secure.

Step 3. Decide what order looks best on the wreath by laying the first bundle of greens with stems facing inside the wreath. Wrap several times around the bundle and the width of the wreath stock to be sure it is well attached.

Step 4. Lay the next bundle stock so that it crosses over, facing outward. Zig-zag the boughs to create a slight fanning. Continue all around the wreath or part way as shown.

Step 5. This is where you get to customize and be creative. Add embellishments such as bows, toys, or ornaments and attach with a glue gun or wire to secure it to the base.
